>> 1st October 2011: Everything is Possible's NEWSLETTER.
>> 1st September : THANK YOU!!!

Dear partner,
This year Everything is Possible, with the help of our partners, recruited around 35 volunteers from the UK and abroad. They helped us to promote recycling during the festival and to salvage after the event. 12 charity organisations joined us as well to reclaim camping items for their own activities. Festival goers left thousands of pieces of camping equipment and food. Our volunteers reclaimed thousands of good quality, almost brand new camping items. Food has been passed on to St George’s Crypt which offers hope, practical support and a new start to hundreds of people every year in Yorkshire.
With the help of our partners and the local media many registered charities, local voluntary groups and NGO’s found their way to our camping equipment collection point.
Also this year much of the region’s local media such as BBC LOOK NORTH, BBC Website, YORKSHIRE EVENING POST and BBC Radio covered the event.
Finally all the good camping equipment items recycled by our volunteers found a new owner and will help many organisations carry out their daily activities.
Everything is Possible would like to thank all our volunteers, partners, local media and, of course, Festival Republic who helped us to make it happen.

>> August 2011: Join the Green Messengers at the Leeds Festival!

Give up your free time for a worthwhile cause and have a free access to Leeds Festival.
Every year Leeds Festival attracts thousands of music lovers. Keeping the site environmentally friendly is a huge challenge, that the Green Messengers try to manage.
This volunteering experience gives volunteers the chance to have access to the festival
for free.
What will I do?
As a Green Messenger you will work to promote recycling, collect cans & plastic
bottles and salvage good quality, re-usable camping equipment that has been left
in the campsites which will be given to charity and community organisations. For
more information about the activities see bellow ''More details about the activities''.
How long will I have to work?
This year there will have 2 GREEN MESSENGER TEAMS:
• Team A will work 2 shifts on ‘show days’ (Friday 26th, Saturday 27th and Sunday28th August) and 1 shift on Thursday 25th before the festival.
• Team B will work 1 day during the festival (Friday 26th/Saturday 27th or Sunday 28th August) and 2 days after. Post event (Monday 29th, Tuesday 30th August) you will be part of the salvage team, helping clear the site of reusable camping gear.
Green Messengers will work a total of 24 hours for the duration of the
Festival. They will usually work 3 × 8hours shifts allocated by Everything
is Possible.
And what about the Festival?
The activities are usually held before the concerts. So you will be able to spend
your free time in the festival enjoying all the bands and entertainment on offer!
Everything is Possible is looking for volunteers so if you think you’re full of energy, don’t mind getting your hands dirty and are a passionate recycler, please send the Application Form (that you can download in clicking here) fully completed to Raphael : raphael@everythingispossible.eu
------ DEADLINE: Thursday 18th of August 2011 ------
Watch the video of last year, on our Youtube Channel : click here.
MORE DETAILS ABOUT THE ACTIVITIES:
The Green Messengers work in all the recycling initiatives at the festival. You will be doing some or all of the following:
• Hand out bin bags to people on arrival.
• Tell the campers about the recycling initiatives, especially promoting the idea of packing their camping gear down and taking it home.
• Be stationed at the sets of recycling bins throughout the campgrounds telling people what bin to put their recycling in. You will be armed with a litter picking stick and if necessary you will have to pick out the wrong stuff that gets thrown in the wrong bin when you’re not looking. You may also do some litter picking around the roadway your bin is stationed on. Daytime shifts only.
• Be part of our Recycle Exchange team. You will receive bags of cans and other rubbish from the campers and hand out beer vouchers. You will need to be a bit bossy for this job as you will have to make the people pick out any ‘contaminants’ from the bags they bring back before you hand over their beer voucher. We are also looking at a way of collecting up all the trashed metal chairs, so you may end up on that duty too.
• Be part of our Compost Crew. These will be highly sought after arena jobs, so volunteers will need to jump through a few hoops to get this role. The Compost Crew will roam around the arena with a handy hoop and a litter picking stick working as mobile compost bins. This is so people don’t have to sit in each others' squished kebabs and also so we capture the estimated 70% of compostable waste produced in the arena ends up as compost and not as methane puffing out of a landfill. OK, so not such a glamorous job, but we’ll kit you out in some fun t-shirts and you’ll get to see and hear the bands.
• You will be promoting the option of packing down their gear and donating it to our Tent Recycling points.
• Staffing Tent Recycling points on the Monday morning.
• Working in the sorting area to re-pack all the donated gear.
• Salvaging and scavenging good quality re-usable gear that’s left in the campsites, to go to charity and community organisations.

>> Youth Exchange: How The Story Ends Press Release: ''Whitby volunteers help out overseas''
Change how the story ends educated young people in the concept of ‘recycle and reuse’. Using the exciting environment of a music festival in Leeds, participants had the opportunity to consider how their home country recycle, and to share this with other participants. Young people encouraged festival goers to recycle their plastic cups and beer cans etc. At the end of the festival the exchange groups collected good quality camping equipment, tents, sleeping bags, camping chairs etc left behind by festival goers and claimed any equipment which they wanted to take home with them, Spare equipment was distributed to local community groups through a camping distribution day which was held at the end of the exchange. The Duration of the exchange was 8 days. The number of participants was 51.
