After you have had a good look, contact us and we can give you further details of what to do next.
We are not the only sending organization, and if you don’t live too close to Leeds you may decide you want to find a closer organization. Although there is no rule that you should choose your closest sending organization, sometimes it is easier & cheaper as you will need to meet us a number of times before your EVS begins.
There is no official form, but we recommend you prepare an up to date CV and also a motivation letter expaining why you want to take part in a specific project, and why an organization should select you. EVS is very very competitive! We will then arrange to meet with you in one of our Leeds offices.
We have a number of partners in countries in Europe, the Caribbean, Africa, soth america and Asia but are not limited to working with these partners. If you have seen a project which interests you we are happy to begin a new partnership.
Short-term (2 weeks – 2 months)
This opportunity is aimed at promoting inclusion of young people with less opportunities, this may be a young person who has experienced significant problems in their life, such as a stay in prison, misuse of alcohol or drugs, homelessness etc. It could also include young parents, those who have not achieved or have been excluded from school and young people who have lived in the care of the local authorities.
Young people from such backgrounds have extra opportunities in EVS:
It is possible to experience an EVS project shorter than the norm,
(from 2 weeks to 2 months)
It is possible for 16 & 17 year olds to take part in an EVS
Sometimes we will be able to fund additional costs such as passports or other practical things needed in order to travel.
Please see the map of our partner organizations.
***Did you know you can claim housing benefit for stays outside the UK of up to 13 weeks?
How to apply - information for support agencies
Our preference is to offer this opportunity to young people who have some support networks in place. We offer a preparation plan & on return we try to offer a re-integration support plan see passport portfolio, however we find this most effective when it is combined with support offered by another agency which is working on a day to day basis with a young person. we would work in partnership with this organization to offer a volunteer a support package for this international experience. There is no application form, please feel free to contact us about any young person who you feel this opportunity could be beneficial for. The one thing we ask is for complete honesty about a young person’s support needs. We have not yet been asked to support a young person we could not place, sometimes if a young person has multiple support needs, it takes longer, and the choices can be more limited, however it is very important to us we do not set young people up to fail. We ask for 100% transparency in order that we can find the most supportive, suitable placement which will allow for the best possible opportunity for personal development & of course enjoyment. top
