What next? - How to become an EVS volunteer.

The first thing to do is to have a look on the activity database, to see if any activities catch your eye. www.sosforevs.org – look in the public database and search by them, by country or in the volunteer’s wanted category. If after looking at the database and the information for future volunteers you are interested, download the volunteer profile form from our website complete it and email it, fax it or send it back to us. If you speak the language of the country you wish to volunteer in, we would recommend that you complete two forms, one in English (for us), and one in the language of the host country. If you have access to a digital camera or scanner it is great to add a photo, so we can send that to the host projects. If not, send us an ordinary photo and we will scan it for you.

Next, you will be invited to one of our volunteer preparation meetings. It is important to us, we get to know you and we will want to meet with you a few times before we can help you to start an EVS activity. These meetings are a good opportunity to meet other volunteers (we often have volunteers we are hosting at these meetings too), to consider a little more about which activities and countries you are interested in and, what preparation will be necessary before you leave.

If you have already identified an activity you should send us as much information about the project/s you wish to be considered for, such as the name, country and SOS database reference number. The process can take quite a long time, it can take three to six months to be accepted on an activity, many activities are over-subscribed and you may have to have a few choices, so apply as soon as you can.
